“The sound of the blast shook me. The mid morning cup of tea fell from my hand and the cup broke”.
That was a piece of conversation over telephone with one of my friends from Guwahati on 30th October 2008.
The sound of the blast only broke the cup of my friend but in that moment, that sound wiped out hundreds of life and broke hundreds of hearts for ever.
The Thursday 30th October 2008 will be remembered as one of the bloodiest morning in the history of Assam. The terrorists, once again bathe our motherland with the blood of innocent people.
The sound of the serial blasts in Guwahati, Barpeta Road, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon soon died down, but that sound changed the course of life of many innocent people for ever.
The smartly dressed young lawyer who waved good bye to his proud mother that day will never return. The young girl will never see her father, who went to sell his vegetables in the market. The young girl, who was late for her class, will never reach her class anymore. The sales men who opened their stalls that morning to sale silk Mekhela, Chador and Sarees will never open their shops again.
Yes, that sound, that horrible, ugly sound caused all these atrocities to so many. These innocent people happen to be in the wrong place at a wrong time.
What I can do? What you can do? What all of us can do?
No, we cannot turn the clock back. No, we cannot mend the broken hearts. No, we cannot give all the dreams back.
But
We can try to ease the pain and give comfort by forwarding a caring hand of help.
We can try to give hopes to rebuild the shattered lives once again by our support.
Yes
Only one thing I, YOU, and WE can do is to give help and support.
We need your help.
